[News item, October 17, 2006: Tony Blair says that distinctive clothes worn by Muslims are "a mark of separation, and that's why it makes other people from outside the community feel uncomfortable."]I was going to dress like an Orthodox Jew, but it turned out to be very difficult to find fedoras in my size.I was going to dress like a Sikh, but like I’m all thumbs so the turban always came out looking a disgrace.
I was going to dress like a nun but those habits don’t come in my size, either.
I was going to conceal my face with a beard, but my beard grows in curly and I’m always getting these ingrown whiskers which are a bugger.
I was going to conceal my face with heavy make-up, but I’m allergic.
I was going to conceal my face with sunglasses and a ball cap pulled down low, but I kept bumping into things.
That’s why I wear the veil.
