Give Us This Day Our Daily Double

In an earlier article, writing with divine inspiration, I was able to explain the natural superiority of Christianity, using the principles espoused by its deadliest enemies – the evolutionists. Now God has inspired me to take the crusade even deeper into enemy territory!
Yes, friends, I decided to go into a gambling den, a veritable cornucopia of vice, and to demonstrate, using the devil’s own tools, the supremacy of our loving and powerful God!
On November 2, 2007 I made my way to one of the dingy haunts typical of gamblers, a betting parlour operated by a diabolical group operating under the wholesome-sounding name of Woodbine Entertainment Group. Entertainment, indeed!
When I entered I discovered a dissolute band of lost souls, eagerly trying to extract knowledge from records of horse races that were printed in the programs and in the copies of the Racing Form which they were consulting. Obviously these poor souls had forgotten the words of the apostle Paul in his first letter to the Corinthians: “The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain” (I Cor. 3:20).
Friends, man became evil when Adam and Eve ate of the tree of knowledge, but here people were trying to bring in a veritable harvest of diabolical fruit! I talked to some of these sufferers of diabolical possession, and many told me they were going to place bets on the horse which appeared fastest to them. Had they never read Ecclesiastes 9:11, where God states, in words of one syllable, “The race is not to the swift”?
I knew that if I could demonstrate to these corrupted souls that faith in God is a better guide than mere human reason that I could win them over to belief in God and in his only son, Jesus Christ! I purchased a copy of the Racing Form and scanned the entries, looking for God-inspired choices.
Right off the bat, friends, I found not one God-inspired choice, but two! In the second race at Calder Race Course in Florida, the divinely named Brotherly Love and Heavenly Beauty were taking on a field of more demonically named horses. Hallelujah! Thank you Jesus! I had seen the light!
I made my way to the betting window and purchased what is called an exactor box. If Heavenly Beauty and Brotherly Love finished the race ahead of the rest of the field, I would be given a sum of money greater than that I paid for the exactor box. If either of these horses finished worse than second, however, I would lose the money I had paid. My faith was great, however, and I awaited the running of the race in sanguine and pious expectation.
You can imagine my shock when Heavenly Beauty finished third and Brotherly Love fifth! I felt as Our Lord did upon the Cross when He demanded of God why He had forsaken Him! But, using Our Lord as an example, I overcame my doubts.
God inspired me to realize that, as a result of the policies of godless Fidel Castro, Florida, the home of Calder Race Course, is now home to millions of godless Roman Catholics! Obviously I had reckoned without their evil influence on events in that region, and my sanguine faith had not been sufficient to conquer the massed legions of the devil.
I therefore turned my attention to the local race track, Woodbine. Now, Toronto is home to unbelievers of all types – Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus, and many more, as well as Roman Catholics! This time, though, I was forewarned, and resolved to muster enough faith to conquer their malign influences!
However, Heaven on Wheels finished last in the fourth race at Woodbine, while Faith’s Way finished sixth in the sixth race. Perhaps the sin of Pride had led me to overestimate the strength of my faith.
However, God sent me a sign! Hallelujah! Since I had erred through my own imperfection, He gave me a chance to redeem myself by betting on a horse named Path of Perfection in the seventh race at Aqueduct! Christ counselled perfection, of course. His advice to the woman taken in adultery was "Go and sin no more" (John 8:11).
Not only was this horse destined to show the power of perfect faith, but Aqueduct is in New York City, which has a large Jewish population. Now, Jews are going to hell, there’s no doubt about that. However, the Jews have been destined by God to play a special role in our Salvation. The ascension of Christians to heaven in the Rapture can only occur once the destiny of the Jewish people has been fulfilled! Consequently, in Genesis 12:3, God tells us that anyone who blesses Israel will be blessed by Israel in return. Jews are here to help Christians, not to hinder them. At Aqueduct, faith would triumph.
Path of Perfection finished eighth. God then let me see the sad truth of what I had been vainly trying to do. He showed me that I had been right about my pride.
Friends, I have sinned. I presumed that my faith alone would be sufficient to conquer the demonic faith of thousands of race-track betting fanatics! I had presumed to the position occupied by our Saviour, Jesus Christ! I alone, I thought, would conquer the unbelievers!
It is obvious friends, that I am but a feeble reed. Individually, any one of us is but a feeble reed. When we bind feeble reeds together, though, we can make thatch, which has the power to ward off raging storms!
We must fight the race-track demons together, friends! We must join forces to demonstrate to the denizens of race tracks the power and glory of God! I am asking you, therefore, to send donations of money to be used to wager on godly horses at the major race tracks of the world! We will show the Glory of God through win bets, we will show it through exactor bets, we will show it through triactor bets, we will show it through foreign bets like trixies, Yankees, Canadians, and bullseyes! We will bet horses, we will bet dogs, we will make bets on any of God's creatures, knowing that God's creatures can only serve as demonstrations of the supreme power of the Almighty!
